Krystal Encarnacion

Krystal Encamacion started volunteering for Journey Kids in March 2010 as a fifth grade small group leader during second service. When Krystal isn’t volunteering, she enjoys practicing Zumba and working on learning and understanding more of God’s word and the Bible. She also enjoys going out to dinner and seeing a good movie. When Krystal decided it was time to get further involved, she took the plunge and filled out a volunteer slip to work in the Children’s Ministry. She figured that that would be the best place for her to use her gifts because she loves to work with children and help them learn about God.

Seeing the kids learn something new each week about God is one of the things that Krystal enjoys most about volunteering. Week after week, she keeps coming back to volunteer because of this passion she has to help the kids grow in their knowledge. It is especially rewarding for Krystal to see a child that she has previous taught out in the world living a Christ-filled life. Krystal says, “It warms my heart to know that God used me to play a part in their Christian life”.

Krystal believes that if we teach our children about God now, when they are young, we can grow up a generation that is all about God. Kids absorb more information about God than we think they do. What personally affects Krystal each week is when she sees the children willing to participate in different activities and answer questions that are related to the weekly message. This is how she knows that the Word of God is seeping into each one of their hearts.

Volunteering is something that Krystal would encourage anyone to do. If you are thinking about jumping into the Children’s Ministry, the best advice that Krystal can give you is to “just do it”. She knows that children are a gift from God and believes that knowing that we have an opportunity to help our children learn about God is rewarding all in itself. Leading children closer to God is the only reward we need.

Questions

Why should I serve?

God gives us interests and skills that when put to use, enable us to make a real difference in our church, community and world. And when we serve, we find community, an opportunity to be with others and joy in following Christ’s example.

Children’s ministry is a “Team Sport”!  When Jesus was on the earth he started the church as found in the book of Acts.  Out of all the ways he could have set it up, he chose a team structure.  Church was never meant to be run by just a few.  It was meant to be teams of ministry volunteers working together and using their God given talents to help kids make friends with God and with each other!

Does Journey Kids Ministry really need me to volunteer?

ABSOLUTELY! While we understand that many people think their serving won’t make a difference, the truth is we need your help. Part of a balanced Christian life is serving, so jump in and start serving the Lord at Journey Kids!

How do I find out what volunteer opportunities are available?

The best place to start is the List of Volunteer Opportunities. You can also contact our office at 262.694.3300 ext 1050. To discover what your giftings are, fill out the online Spiritual Gift Assessment.

How do I begin serving?

The first step is to fill out an application. The application can be mailed or turned into the church office during the week, or handed in at Information during the weekend services. Please mark the envelope attention Alicia Johnson.  This is followed by an orientation meeting with the Children Ministry staff. In this meeting, we talk about the ministry as a whole and where you feel called to serve.

What is expected of me?

Expectations vary from role to role. There is a process in place to ensure you are appropriately equipped and trained. The most important thing you can do is show up at the appointed time. Should you ever have any questions about what is expected of you, be sure to talk with your team leader. Open communication is the best method to be sure the serving opportunity is a good fit for both you and the ministry.

What is the time commitment?

The great news is that you can tailor your serving to fit your schedule and your season of life! There are serving opportunities available around the weekend services as well as throughout the week.
